50. Feeling on top of the world
Dec 30, 2023You are going through life and all is well. Instantly, it all changed and you were on your knees, feeling lost with no idea how life goes on without your loved one.
Hi, I am Janet Jones, founder of Happiness Millionaire. Welcome to my conversations with my rock on the beach, Sylvia-Rose. She helps me navigate the next chapter of my life, the chapter without my 22-year-old son, Murray. Join these musings about life, grief, and loss with my rock, Sylvia-Rose. SR - Good Morning! That is a nice confident, happy stride today.
Jan - Thanks. I am feeling on top of the world.
SR - I can see that and feel that from you.
Jan - It is amazing how a change in energy spreads out like the rings when you throw a stone into a still pond.
SR - That is a beautiful image. What has changed?
Jan - It is the slow change of continually doing something that benefits you. Like keeping to a diet or showing up to work with a smile. I believe this is the effect of continually meditating and doing ten minutes of yoga before coming here for a walk. In the past few days, I have added a little something extra.
SR - I knew there was something. I could see it in your eyes.
Jan - Flattery will get you everywhere
SR - So what is it?
Jan - I have been doing abundant meditation. Focusing on creating wealth. I am doing it a little differently though. I bring in extra help from my ancestors and Murray. I feel them around me, wanting to live through me. Wanting to free me of fear so I can live fully. I sense they now know that fear prevents people from having a full human experience. The opposite of fear, I used to say was faith, but I now would say it is love. It is Love that they are all infusing within me.
SR - Perhaps love and faith are the same thing?
Jan - Perhaps. I hadn’t thought about it like that. When we truly believe and have faith in something or someone, I guess that is underpinned by love. If we allow ourselves to come from a place of love, then it doesn’t matter what happens.
SR - No, because love is all-powerful and present. Maybe it is just about seeing the love, rather than seeing the fear.
Jan - I said the other day I feel I am seeing life for the first time. This is how love feels.
I often treat myself to looking at photos of Murray in the mornings and he is forever present in my visual mind. This morning, I came across a group of photos from the last Christmas Eve we had together, in 2018. We danced in a nightclub in Halifax. We were both drunk and laughing. After the last photo, there was an image of a blue sky with a bright cloud and a quote by Rumi, ‘Shine like the whole Universe is yours’.
SR - And so you should. Everyone should do that. Smile through the pain too, for abundance isn’t only for good times, the seeds are there in the bad.
Jan - I couldn’t agree more. No one likes the dark times. We want to get through them as quickly as possible but there is no quick way through.
SR - No. Rushing that by being busy and creating distractions from the pain will only bring it back later. I love how you are nurturing your journey and observing it.
Jan - I feel that is benefiting me. I am beginning to feel whole again.
SR - That is great to hear. I was worried a few months ago.
Jan - Me too. Then everything changed and I realised life is a precious and beautiful thing.
SR - Well spotted. What are you doing with today’s gift of life?
Jan - I have a call with a friend and then working on my favourite topic of Happiness, then this evening I am hosting another Sister Circle with my friend, Lianne, and new friends who have welcomed me from the town. I am beginning to grow roots here already.
SR - You are. I hope I am one of them.
Jan - You are a very important one of them. My besty
SR - That is nice to know. You better go. It sounds like that is a fun-filled day. Plus you have the sun shining.
Jan - It is a perfect day, whatever unfolds in its hours. See you soon.
SR - I look forward to it.
